The words here don’t come easy. How to review a year of weddings in a collection of images and a paragraph or two? Truth is, you can’t. But in bringing these photos together, these singular moments merge into the larger fabric of what a wedding day feels like, looks like, what it means and its unique assemblage of people, place and time. I’ve never put together a review like this, meshing 31 wedding days together into a family of moments, but in doing so I’ve refocused on what this work means, the value of documentation and the significance of these images moving forward. In future days, due to our current global crisis, they’ll be a reminder of how good it feels to give someone a hug. In the years ahead, they’ll show us the passage of time through seasons and fashion and the people we still hold dear and some that we’ve lost touch with. Decades from now they’ll be how we remember loved ones who have passed or show us how our partner still holds our hand in the exact same way when we feel nervous. They’re so much more than photos and if you’ve ever treasured an image, you know exactly how important it is to have that reminder. Images are bigger than the visual. They hold so much that is never seen. Eternally grateful to those who invite me into their lives to make sure a fleeting day lasts a lifetime and beyond.
