Mackenzie + Caleb | Cotton Exchange Wedding | Waterford, WI

This is kind of a big post. While I went through the images from Mackenzie and Caleb’s day and picked out the ones to share here I couldn’t pare it down to less than this. I tried, but every photo I took out left a hole in the story of their day and I want to do it justice because their story matters. A wedding is bigger than two people exchanging rings and promises and I feel like I’m starting to realize that more and more with the weddings I shoot. A million incredibly important and once in a lifetime moments happen on a wedding day and not just between the couple. All of those interactions will only happen just this once, on this singular day in time and the beauty in that is everything. I cried more than once going through these images. Maybe it had to do with how much Mackenzie is crying throughout the day (as a cryer myself I totally get it and love it) or maybe how much love I saw in the biggest and most subtle of ways- The way Mackenzie started crying while reading Caleb’s letter before she even got to the end of the first sentence. The way Caleb looked at Mackenzie, with tears in his eyes, as she walked down that aisle toward him. The way family and friends hugged these two and congratulated them after the ceremony. The way the whole bridal party ran around Caleb’s sister’s yard playing baseball and goofing around in their formal clothes. The way Mackenzie’s grandma looked at her during speeches. The way Caleb’s mom watched Mackenzie dance with her father. The way Caleb held onto Mackenzie tightly and wiped away her happy tears as they watched their wedding slideshow play. Love is in all those moments. I know I’ve said this before, but I can’t stress enough what a huge an honor it is to be invited into these spaces. It’s incredible to see this epic piece of a couple’s journey. Mackenzie and Caleb are wonderful people who have the kind of connection that people dream to find one day. It’s magical to watch and be around. Thank you for sharing your story and this day with me. It was so fun, great to see some familiar faces and be there alongside you all while you celebrated. I hope these photos always bring you back to the feelings you had, the abundance of love, the happy tears, and the joy. Pure joy. I’m so so happy for you two! All my love, Mr. and Mrs. Hewitt!
