Mercedes + Sam | Sauk City Vintage Brewing Company Wedding | Sauk City, WI

You could see the church from her house. When I got there and realized that, this whole fairy tale narrative ran through my head. Her waking up, pushing open the curtains, gazing at the church across the valley and dreaming of the day she’d walk down that aisle and marry her prince charming. Probably singing with little forest animals all around too. She sure did look like a princess, those long, flowing, blonde locks all curled and bouncing. But she’s the kind of princess that walked around barefoot in the mud in her wedding dress and helped me catch toads too. Sam and Mercedes are that way- traditional in a sense and then unconventional in other ways. There were notes of that throughout the day. They were married at St. Norbert’s Catholic Church. A super gorgeous old church that Mercedes grew up going to. They exchanged rings and a kiss on the steps of the church. We made the most of the gorgeous grounds for photos. They had a mostly male wedding party, which I thought was so great. If you want bridesmen, have bridesmen! Their group was fun and in high spirits all day long. The party continued at Vintage Brewing in Sauk City. Their guests played trivia to get the newlyweds to kiss during dinner. The questions were wide ranging on their childhoods and relationship because Mercedes and Sam have known each other since 7th grade. Not many relationships span that kind of time starting so young. After dinner there were games and dancing. The patio was prime for enjoying the beautiful summer night and marveling at how high the river was (it was CRAZY high!). We snuck away for some late evening photos near the river and it couldn’t have been more beautiful. I was in my photo happy place and Mercedes and Sam were soaking up every second of this new life together. I really enjoyed the day with you guys and am so happy our paths crossed. Wishing you all the best and much happiness!
